A boater was safely taken to shore early Wednesday morning after he became disoriented in the thick fog, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
Authorities received a call about the man around 1 a.m. The man gave dispatchers coordinates that put him in the area of Port San Luis, the Coast Guard said. Crews were able to locate the man using his cell phone and radio, ultimately finding him north of Morro Bay at 3:40 a.m.
The boat was safely moored by 4:15 a.m., the Coast Guard said.
Visibility in the fog was about 200 yards.
