An Idaho woman was killed in a crash Monday evening near Santa Margarita, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened about 5:50 p.m. Mikyley Reitz, 25, of Rathdrum, Idaho, was driving a 2001 Ford F-350 north on Parkhill Road south of Highway 58. As she was driving, she was unable to negotiate a left curve in the road, the rear tires of her truck left the road and the vehicle rotated counterclockwise, the CHP said. When the truck re-entered the road, it rolled onto its roof and crushed the cab. The truck came to a rest upside down and blocking the road, the CHP said.
Officials said nearby residents who heard the vehicle just before the crash told officers they thought the vehicle was “driving very fast,” according to the CHP.
Reitz was extricated from her vehicle by Cal Fire responders and pronounced dead at the scene.
