Highway 101 reopens in Atascadero after car crashes caused by black ice

The right lane of northbound Highway 101 is now open, according to Caltrans.

The right lane of northbound Highway 101 at San Diego Way in Atascadero is closed, according to Caltrans spokesman Jim Shivers.

The lane closure was announced at about 8:40 a.m. and was caused by multiple vehicles involved in an accident due to black ice, Caltrans said. According to the California Highway Patrol’s website, there were at least three collisions in that area by 7:42 a.m.

There is currently no estimate for when the lane will reopen.
