The San Luis Obispo County YMCA named April Lewallen as its chief operations officer — a new position for the local organization.
In her position, Lewallen will oversee the YMCA’s youth programs, fitness memberships, risk management and health and wellness programs, according to a news release.
Lewallen has had an 18-year career with the YMCA organization — beginning in Tucson, Arizona, including stops in Phoenix and service trips to the Philippines, the news release said. Most recently, she acted as CEO for the YMCA of San Joaquin County.
Her career success includes the completion of a $2.9 million capital campaign highlighted by a seven-figure lead gift, according to the news release. Lewallen holds a degree in business management and is an active community volunteer.
