Two wine-related fundraisers will be held in Paso Robles this weekend.

Two dozen wineries and BarrelHouse Brewing Co. will grill up culinary creations to pair with their wine (or beer), aiming to woo judges and attendees at the Winemaker’s

Cookoff, from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Paso Robles Event Center.

“This event is somewhat unique in that winemakers are judged on their culinary talents and not their wines,” the event website states.

This year’s judges are local cookbook author Brigit Binns, Sunset magazine wine editor Sara Schneider, Canyon Villa chef/owner and former Playboy Mansion executive chef William Bloxsom-Carter, Santa Barbara food and wine writer Mike Cervin and San Diego wine writer and judge Robert Whitley.

The 18th annual event, sponsored by the Paso Robles Rotary, raises money for local high school scholarships, donating $30,000 last year alone and more than $400,000 since it began. Tickets are available at www.winemakerscookoff.com.

Also Saturday, shops around Paso’s City Park are holding special wine and spirits tastings from 5 to 8 p.m. for the fourth annual Summer Bash. An accompanying raffle raises money for MUST! Charities Kids Farmer’s Market program.

The General Store Paso Robles is hosting Christine Moore, acclaimed cookbook writer, candy maker and chef/owner of Pasadena’s Little Flower Cafe, along with samples from Re:Find Distillery and Yes Artisan Cocktail Co. Participating shops include And Be Boutique, Kahunas Surf, Principessa, Jayde Boutique and Sole Tree.
