Two years after reopening with new management, retail boutique Coverings looks to be closing again.

In an email alert to customers sent out Wednesday, the company wrote: “Coverings is closing. Time for a really great sale.”

The alert then listed information for a “Going Out with a Bang” 40 percent off sale that would begin Thursday. It also advised customers to use outstanding credits and gift cards by May 1.

It is unclear why the business is closing. Owner Susan Kozuschek declined to comment on the closure Thursday, saying the store was too busy. She did say that an official closure date is not yet set, and will depend on how long it takes them to sell out of their inventory.

Coverings closed its doors in November 2013 after its longtime owner died. Located at 760 Higuera St., the high-end boutique had been a fixture downtown for nearly 20 years.

The following month, Kozuschek and her husband, Micki Kozuschek, announced they would be reopening the store in February 2014 after completing some renovations on the 4,000-square-foot space. The Kozushecks co-own cycling accessory company Lezyne, which is based in San Luis Obispo.
