Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo has named Michael Bell as its new chief operating officer.
Bell, 46, is responsible for the oversight of the hospital’s daily operations and ancillary departments such as pathology, radiology, pharmacy and plant operations, according to a news release. He is involved with the hospital’s clinical outcomes, patient, physician and employee satisfaction, and financial success. He reports to Chief Executive Officer Joseph DeSchryver.
Previously, Bell was associate administrator of hospital operations at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield. He also has worked as director, clinical quality improvement, at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, in addition to work at Bakersfield Heart Hospital.
Bell earned a bachelor of science degree in general studies from the University of Nebraska, a master of divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary and a master of business administration in health care administration degree from Brenau University, according to the news release.
