California State Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian has named San Luis Ambulance as the 35th Assembly District’s Small Business of the Year.

The ambulance company, which has been providing patient care for 70 years, was established in 1945 by Ken Jones and has been owned and operated by Frank and Betsey Kelton since 1974, according to a news release. Based in San Luis Obispo, it has eight crew stations in SLO County.

The Keltons were given the award on June 12 as part of California Small Business Day, which is sponsored by the California Small Business Association and gives legislators the opportunity to honor outstanding small businesses from their districts.
