Coffee Cottage, organic coffee shop in Morro Bay, to hold open house

The new owners of the Coffee Cottage in Morro Bay, a purely organic coffee shop, are hosting an open house on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Chad and Ami Oliveira, the former owners of Morro Bay’s Waterfront Grill, have partnered in the new store with Los Osos native and Morro Bay High School graduate Ethel Marcos. They opened Jan. 1.

The oceanfront shop, located at 845 Embarcadero, Suite 1, has existed for about seven years under different ownership. The open house will include a free cup of drip coffee for visitors.

The shop’s all-organic, fair trade beans are roasted at Coffee Bean International in Oregon. The dark roast bean is from South America, and the medium roast is a blend from Central America, Indonesia and Africa.

“We really wanted to bring something new to the Embarcadero street experience,” Marcos said. “We believe we’re filling a void in our niche, and we provide a much-needed alternative for conscious consumers in the area.”
