A new wine festival this fall on the Central Coast will focus on an often-overlooked type of wine: sparkling.
Local event management and social media company Create Promotions will hold BUBBLYFEST by the Sea in Pismo Beach from Oct. 24 to 26, according to a news release. The festival will be the first in the country dedicated solely to sparkling wine and Champagne, according to the release.
“San Luis Obispo County has a lot of wineries in the area — it's the new Napa, after all — and a lot of those wineries are starting to produce sparkling wines, so it really is ideal,” said Chelsea Modlin of On The Horizon Communications, which is helping to organize the event. “It's also a prime location between Los Angeles and San Francisco, and beside the sparkling water, as well.”
More than 40 local, domestic and international producers of Champagne and sparkling wines will be available for tasting at the weekend's events, including a Great Gatsby-themed cocktail mixer, a grand tasting event at SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel on Oct. 25 and a Champagne brunch at Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa.
