Meathead Movers is a moving and packaging company based in San Luis Obispo. It was founded by brothers Aaron Steed, 33, and Evan Steed, 30, when they were in high school. The company employs 127 people.
Its projected annual revenue for this year is between $7 million and $8 million, said Aaron Steed, who attended the Empact Showcase in late October.
The Empact Showcase, sponsored by Entrepreneur magazine, features entrepreneurs age 35 and younger who founded companies that generated more than $100,000 in revenue in 2012. The companies must be private and located in the United States.
Every year, the Empact100 companies — consisting of the top businesses based on revenue, number of employees, social impact, growth and innovativeness — are chosen to be recognized at its annual conference.
The average revenue among Empact’s top companies was $4.5 million in 2012, with total combined annual revenue of more than $1 billion, according to the showcase website. All together, the Empact100 companies employ about 8,000 people.
