Four San Luis Obispo County hospitals recently received the top grade for patient safety by hospital ratings organization, The Leapfrog Group.

These included the two county Dignity Health hospitals, Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and French Hospital Medical Center, and two Tenet Healthcare hospitals, Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and Twin Cities Community Hospital.

All four hospitals received an “A” in the Leapfrog Group’s most recent analysis of patient safety — the highest grade possible.

The group rates hospitals based on safety, quality of care and general outcome of most procedures, according to a news release. The ratings represent a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. In its most recent analysis, The Leapfrog Group ranked more than 2,500 general hospitals throughout the country.

Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, another Dignity Health hospital, also received an “A” grade.
