McDonald’s has proposed opening a new drive-through restaurant in Los Osos.
The restaurant would be at 1076 Los Osos Valley Road in a commercial building that used to house a bank with a drive-through window. The company proposes new landscaping for the building with an outdoor patio with seating, tables and canopies.
The building has a floor area of more than 4,000 square feet, and the restaurant will take up most of that. Nearly 1,000 square feet of floor space will be available for a retail business.
“McDonald’s has no involvement in who will occupy that (retail) area,” said Christina Borrego, spokeswoman for the project. “We do know that it can’t be another restaurant, and the prospect will go through the same application process that McDonald’s is going through.”
The company’s goal is to blend in with the community building standards and use environmentally sustainable building practices, Borrego said. The proposal is going through the county’s permitting process.
The Los Osos Advisory Committee reviewed the project on June 13. “If all progresses as hoped for, the target date for opening is the month of October,” Borrego said.
