A new festival at El Chorro Regional Park in San Luis Obispo this summer doesn’t stop at food, music, beer or wine. Attendees can pitch a tent, too.
Morro Bay-based HarvestMoon Inc., which has organized a beer-and-blues festival in Mammoth Lakes for 18 years, is teaming up with Tap It Brewing Co. of San Luis Obispo to host the Seven Sisters Fest set for July 12 and 13.
“We wanted to do something in our own backyard,” said Sarah Mason, president of HarvestMoon, a marketing and event production company.
Mason described it as a “lifestyle event,” saying the most unusual aspect of the festival is the opportunity for event-goers to set up camp or park RVs nearby. There are 63 campsites in El Chorro, according to the county parks department.

“With the camping component, you can totally immerse yourself in the weekend,” Mason said.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the SLO Brewers Guild, the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden and other local groups.
“We are looking to put the SLO Brewers Guild on the map,” she said.
The entertainment lineup, which is still being finalized, includes Americana act Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line, bluegrass/hip-hop band Gangstagrass and guitarist Robben Ford. Some breweries have also already committed, including ManRock Brewing Co. of Grover Beach, BarrelHouse Brewing Co. of Paso Robles and Lagunitas Brewing Co. of Petaluma. Organizers hope to book more than 40 breweries.
Mason said some boutique wineries — “the ones no one gets to hear about” — are also being invited to set up booths.
The Seven Sisters Fest is named in honor of the seven of nine Morros that can be seen from the festival site.
On July 12, a Friday, the festival runs from 4 to 8 p.m. On July 13, the main event runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with tasting from noon to 4 p.m. About 2,000 people are expected each day. Attendees must be 21 or older for the beer and wine tasting events.
A variety of ticket combinations are available, starting at $35 and topping out at $95. Camping fees are separate. Go to www.sevensistersfest.com for more information.
