A new Tractor Supply Co. store being constructed in the former K-Mart space in Paso Robles could open as soon as October.
The 23,432-square-foot store will sell farm and ranch supplies as well as offer a support service division at 2800 Riverside Ave.
A fenced exterior space will also be built for storage and to display items such as fencing, sprayers and livestock equipment.
The Paso Robles location will staff 12 to 17 full- and part-time employees, according to a statement from the company.
The North County spot is the store’s first location in San Luis Obispo County and its 23rd location in California. Overall, the Tennessee-based company operates more than 1,130 stores in 45 states.
Construction on the site began in mid-August.
Tractor Supply Co. had previously eyed Atascadero for a new location. In 2009, the city of Atascadero approved a master plan for a Tractor Supply store in the Dove Creek project. On Thursday, a company spokesman said there’s no information available about a potential store location in Atascadero.
The store stocks merchandise for horses, livestock and pets; agricultural products; and other supplies such as tools, light truck equipment, work clothing and lawn and garden power equipment.
