The Yew Tree, a shop in Cambria’s West Village that specializes in Celtic items, closed after nine years in business, and a high-end sporting goods store will open in its place.
Yew Tree owner Terri Skeoch said that business did not fully recover since 2008, but the main reason for closing was to be better able to spend time with her mother and traveling.
The new business, River Addiction, will offer outdoor gear, shoes and clothing for hiking and paddle sports.
It will also serve as a tourism information center for local hiking and kayaking, as well as river rafting throughout California.

Owners Maleika and William Lacy, who recently moved to Cayucos from San Diego, decided to turn their enthusiasm for rafting and outdoor sports into a business.
They chose Cambria for its high tourist volume, but expect to make most of the sales through the online store, http://riveraddiction.com.
They expect to hire one employee.
