After only a few months in operation, The Broad Street Tavern in downtown San Luis Obispo has closed its doors.
Carolyn Fagnani, who owned the restaurant, has also owned the building for four years. She and other members of her family spent the past year and a half making improvements to the 2,400-square-foot space in hopes of running a successful family business there.
But after a series of missteps, Fagnani said she decided to close the eatery and put the restaurant space up for lease.
“I operated for about four months, and it was just overwhelming,” Fagnani said. “It was just killing me. It was more than I can handle, especially since I’m new to the restaurant business. It’s been a physical and emotional drain on me.”

Fagnani said there are several parties interested in leasing the restaurant space. However, no deal has been finalized, she said.
