Rehab center opens at Arroyo Grande hospital

Arroyo Grande Community Hospital has opened a $3 million Acute Rehabilitation Center, the only one of its type between Salinas and Santa Barbara, according to hospital officials.

The center caters to patients who need an extended hospital stay to improve mental and physical functioning after a life-changing event such as a stroke, brain injury, major surgery or serious accident.

The hospital converted some existing hospital space and added about 5,700 square feet to create the nearly 8,000-square-foot rehab center, which houses 14 patient beds.
