National pet supply chain Petco plans to open its third San Luis Obispo County store during the summer, according to the location’s landlord.
Petco is set to open at the Five Cities Center in Arroyo Grande in July, said David Pintard of Investec, a Santa Barbara-based real estate investment firm.
The store is to occupy 10,000 square feet of the 15,000-square-foot building under construction in the center off West Branch Street near Trader Joe’s.
No information was available on how many people will be hired to work at the store. A Petco corporate spokesman would not confirm that the company plans to open the Arroyo Grande store.

Petco, which opened its first store in Tigard, Ore., in 1980, has more than 1,000 stores nationwide. The other local stores are in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo.
Pintard also said that a Chase bank is expected to open nearby in the 5,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Hollywood Video, which closed last year. The bank is scheduled for a June opening, he said.
