Melinda Sokolowski, 38, has worked for Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County since 1995 dealing with child care, family support, education, health care and nutrition. In June, she began supervising a nine-year study project to keep fathers involved in parenting. “I feel honored to come to work every day for the community and the rights of children within it,” Sokolowski says. Originally from Camarillo, she earned a degree in human development and psychology at Cal Poly. She volunteers with Hospice of San Luis Obispo, the Child Care Planning Council and the San Luis Obispo Child Abuse Prevention Council. She lives in San Luis with husband, Chris, and children Lucas, 6, and Katie, 3.
