A new downtown wine-tasting lounge called Pithy Little Wine Co. is expecting to open along Chorro Street in downtown San Luis Obispo in December.
Owned by Jeffrey Munsey and Felicia Alvarez, the tasting room is to proffer wine made by the couple at Crush Paso Robles, a wine-making center shared by a number of winemakers in Paso Robles.
Starting in January, a new state law will allow the tasting room to offer not only short pours to taste, but also sales of wine by the glass and bottle.
Munsey and Alvarez are also selling custom-made sodas of root beer, orange creme and dark cherry, making hot-spiced mulled wine and offering a service to custom-design wine labels for people who want to brand Pithy Little Wine as their own.

The wine-tasting space in the former Bali Isle Imports store — across from Bull’s Tavern and a few steps from the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce offices and Native Lounge — is about 700 square feet in size.
It’s set to have a wine bar, couches and stools in a mix of very-early 20th century and post-modern decor, making it both “minimalist and cozy,” Munsey said.
The opening date depends on when the couple get their alcoholic beverage license approved. They are hoping to be open the weekend of Dec. 4, in time for the San Luis Obispo Christmas parade, Munsey said.
