Plans are in the works to bring a new restaurant to downtown Atascadero.

Local businessmen Eric Peterson and Trevor LaSalle have submitted plans to the city to open Streetside Ale House at 6155 El Camino Real in the former spot of wine bar Avion & Claw. If plans are approved, the space will be combined with a storefront next to it to open as one establishment by the end of the year.

Peterson and LaSalle currently own the Guest House Grill farther south on El Camino Real, but city planners say their new venture will not be a second location for that restaurant, but one with a fresh design and menu.

“It’s my understanding that it will be a place to serve beer, a higher type of bar food and to watch the game,” city planner Alfredo Castillo said.

Avion & Claw closed in December 2014 and plans for Streetside Ale House were submitted about four weeks ago. Before Avion & Claw, the downtown location was home to Haven Wine Bistro for a number of years.
