This Paso Robles vineyard could be the next American Winery of the Year

DAOU Vineyards and Winery in Paso Robles is up for “American Winery of the Year” as one of five nominees for Wine Enthusiast magazine’s annual award.

The nomination lauds the winery’s “terroir-driven and precision-based wines,” saying they rival top Bordeaux bottlings and are putting Paso Robles “on the global radar for collectible reds.”

The winery is up against a handful of large, well-known wineries, with other nominations going to Bogle Vineyards, Duckhorn Wine Co., Washington’s L’Ecole No. 41 and Kendall Jackson Wine Estates.

Justin Vineyards and Winery was the magazine’s American Winery of the Year in 2015, while Paso Robles was named Wine Region of the Year in 2013.

Winners of the 18th annual awards will be announced in November and celebrated in the magazine’s annual “Best of Year” issue.
