UPDATE 5:15 p.m.: The Bitter Fire has grown to about 80 acres but was 90 percent contained about 4:30 p.m., Cal Fire Capt. Damien Juarez said. That means the fire has stopped growing; firefighters now work to ensure it does not get out of the so-called containment line.

Original story: About 75 firefighters are currently battling a 60-acre wildland fire in a remote, northeastern part of San Luis Obispo County, according to Cal Fire.

The blaze started at 2:20 p.m. at Bitterwater Road and Bitterwater Valley Road, a Cal Fire official said. It is being called the “Bitter Fire.”

Most of the equipment belongs to Cal Fire; however, the Atascadero City Fire Department has also sent an engine to help.
