Fire destroyed a golf cart shed at Avila Beach Golf Resort on Ana Bay Road in Avila Beach on Saturday. Also blackened was about an acre and half of vegetation along Blue Heron Drive. The loss was estimated at $400,000, a Cal Fire spokesperson said.

The fire was reported at 5:44 p.m. and was contained by about 6:30 p.m. by Cal Fire crews, including three engines, a bulldozer, water tanker, rescue team and air attack team with a spotter plane and two air tankers.

The cause and exact location where it started were under investigation Saturday evening.

Bob Jones Trail was closed during the fire. CHP handled traffic control on nearby Avila Beach Drive. The road had been gridlocked much of the afternoon between Avila Beach and Port San Luis with motorists hoping to catch sight of humpback whales feeding in Avila Bay.
