No foul play in death of man found in parked van, officials say

Officials are awaiting toxicology results to determine the cause of death for George Ormonde, the 64-year-old homeless man found dead in another man’s van last week, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

An autopsy performed Wednesday determined that there were no signs of foul play. The toxicology results could take up to six weeks.

Ormonde was found by David Harrell, also a San Luis Obispo transient, on Aug. 2 in downtown San Luis Obispo. Harrell, who is not a suspect, found Ormonde unconscious inside his parked van and drove him to French Hospital Medical Center about 3 a.m., only to be told by hospital staff that he was dead.
