Fire burns 1 acre behind Independence High School in Paso Robles

Firefighters this afternoon quickly doused a one-acre brush fire that burned behind the administration building of Independence High School on Niblick Road in Paso Robles.

The blaze was reported at 2:47 p.m. and it took firefighters about 15 minutes to contain it, said Ken Johnson with the Paso Robles Fire Department. Two engines from Paso Robles and one Cal Fire engine responded.

“No structures were threatened but it sure put up a good column of smoke,” he said.
