Construction of a $34.8 million communications center for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin this fall at Camp Roberts near Paso Robles.
The project is designed to expand and improve existing facilities at the California Army National Guard training post for satellite Army operations there.
The project will include a 43,000-square-foot communication operations center and related administrative and repair buildings, officials said.
The $34.8 million contract was awarded to Watts/Webcor A JV of Honolulu, Hawaii. The work is expected to be complete by October 2013.
