A man who fell from a cliff near Ragged Point and was found unconscious on the beach has since regained consciousness, a County/Cal Fire officer said this afternoon.
The rescue was still continuing at 5:30 p.m., with a helicopter ambulance on its way to pick up the hiker, according to emergency radio transmissions.
First reports of the injured man came in shortly after 2 p.m. Rescuers arrived at the remote resort, 23 miles north of Cambria, and started heading down a trail at about 2:45 p.m.
The helicopter was nearby before 4 p.m., but landed away from the scene to conserve fuel until the patient could be brought to a spot where he could be safely loaded.
Foggy conditions in the area hampered visibility for the helicopter pilot.
