Local man on bicycle hurt after he was hit by motorcycle in SLO

A bicycle rider suffered major injuries after he was hit by a motorcycle on Friday in San Luis Obispo, according to the CHP.

Just before 7 p.m., the CHP says its officers, County/Cal Fire rescuers and San Luis Ambulance medics found a 53-year-old local man unconscious on Prefumo Canyon Road south of Los Osos Valley Road. The CHP did not disclose the bicyclist’s name.

Soonafter, a 45-year-old Shell Beach man who had been riding a motorcycle arrived with moderate injuries at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, CHP said.

The motorcyclist could not recall what happened after he was involved in a collision, CHP said.

Based on evidence at the scene and the injuries each suffered, the CHP suspect that the bicycle rider was hit as he was descending Prefumo Canyon and the motorcycle went south from Los Osos Valley.
