A 30-year-old Pasadena man was arrested Saturday in SLO on suspicion of attempted murder of his girlfriend’s two year old boy.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the emergency room at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in SLO around 4 p.m. after receiving reports from doctors about a possible child abuse case, officials said.

Deputies later interviewed and arrested Lorenzo Solano-Torres, 30; he is not the biological father of the child, officials said.

Solano-Torres had apparently been left alone with a child at his girlfriend’s home in the 1600 block of 11th Street, officials said. The mother returned home and found the child showing signs of severe trauma.

The toddler was taken to Sierra Vista and later transferred out of the county for specialized care.
