Fire destroys home south of SLO

Fire destroyed a single-family home on Avocado Lane, off Orcutt Road south of San Luis Obispo, this evening.Firefighters were called out to the home just after 6:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found the residence fully engulfed in flames. The couple who had lived in the home for about 30 years escaped uninjured. Before firefighters could extinguish the blaze, the wood-sided house was reduced to rubble.The cause of the fire is not yet known, though it was thought to have started in the garage.This is the second house fire in San Luis Obispo County today. A mobile home in the 14000 block of Del Rosa Road in California Valley, east of Santa Margarita, was destroyed in a fire around 1 p.m. today. The five adults who lived in that residence also escaped uninjured. That fire burned about half an acre of land around the home, as well. A cause is not yet known.— Tribune staff
