Two pulled from vehicle that plunged into Nacimiento Lake

A woman and boy were injured Sunday after their all-terrain vehicle careened into Nacimiento Lake on private property along a southern stretch of the North County waterway.

About 4:20 p.m., rescuers were called to a property on the 4500 block of Gage Irving Road, across from Oak Shores, where two people were reportedly trapped in an overturned Polaris Ranger ATV, according to radio dispatches and the CHP online incident log.

The Ranger is a two-seat vehicle that resembles an oversized golf cart with an enclosed cabin and a small pickup-style bed.

A boy was reported to have broken bones and his mother was reportedly unconscious, according to the CHP Web site.

Radio dispatchers reported to rescuers that they were soon out of the water.

The two were taken by Calstar helicopter to a hospital, according to the CHP. Their conditions were not reported.

Owners of the ATV said they would winch the vehicle out of the lake themselves, according to the CHP Web site.
