Several injured, some serious, in two North Coast wrecks

Two vehicle wrecks along Highway 1 north of Cambria left numerous victims with injuries — some of them serious — Sunday afternoon.

In the first, a motorcyclist riding a black and silver BMW crashed on Highway 1 at San Carpoforo Creek, near Ragged Point, about 3:30 p.m., according to CHP radio dispatches and the agency’s Web site.

The rider had major injuries that included a broken collarbone and was taken by a Calstar helicopter to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton, and later transferred to French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, according to the CHP dispatch Web site.

In the second wreck, a Jeep carrying six people flipped on private property near Vulture Rock, in remote land about 10 miles east of San Simeon, about 5:45 p.m., according to radio dispatches and the CHP Web site.

The site also reported that three crash victims were taken from the scene by a Calstar helicopter and three by ambulance.

At least one patient appeared to have suffered critical injuries. No further information was available from the CHP Templeton office, which was investigating the two wrecks.
