Smoke drifted across Cuesta Grade on Wednesday as County/Cal Fire as crews conducted a 230-acre controlled burn at Camp San Luis Obispo.
Capt. Tony Ramirez said firefighters started the planned burn about 9:30 a.m. on installation property. The fire caused heavy smoke throughout the area, he said, with some residents reporting it as far away as Cuesta Grade.
By 4:30 p.m., crews had extinguished the fire, he said. No significant problems were reported.
