Administrators at Atascadero State Hospital have received an extra generator to help offset a power outage that started Friday morning.
The generator arrived at ASH on Tuesday morning from Las Vegas, hospital spokeswoman Donna Nelson said. The equipment is expected to help restore air conditioning throughout the facility.
Nelson said the hospital did no know when power would be fully restored. Contractors at the facility told The Tribune on Monday that repairs could take three weeks.
Maintenance workers have removed panels from iron-barred windows to allow for greater circulation.
The outage, Nelson said, is the most severe since ASh opened more than 50 years ago. Officials said they will study how to prevent future occurances.
