Hwy 101 cleared of earlier wreck

The miles-long backup on Highway 101 north from a multiplei-vehicle accident just south of Atascadero earlier today is now gone, according to the CHP.

The crash occurred about 11:20 a.m. when an SUV pulling a camper overturned south of Santa Barbara Road, according the CHP’ Web site. The vehicle was on its side and the trailer was "all apart."

A second collision happened at about 11:45 a.m., involving four to five more vehicles.

Traffic remained backed up for several miles south until about 2:30 p.m. Signs were to be posted at the Prado Road ramps in San Luis Obispo warning drivers of the delays.
