The Sheriff's Narcotics Unit arrested a 50-year-old Arroyo Grande man Tuesday on suspicion of selling illegal firearms.
Local investigators worked with the Santa Barbara County Narcotics Task Enforcement Team and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on a three-month investigation of Alan Dale Garrison. In that time, according to the Sheriff¹s Department, detectives bought five semi-automatic 9-millimeter pistols and two fully automatic rifles from Garrison.
Detectives arrest Garrison at Elm Street and East Grand Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. They also seized two semi-automatic 9-millimeter pistols in his car, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Investigators said they then searched a storage locker in the 700 block of Sheridan Road in Arroyo Grande and found an additional 9-millimeter pistol, three automatic rifles, a .22 caliber rifle, illegal belt-fed tracer military ammunition and tear gas grenades.

The Sheriff's Department reported its investigation shows Garrison thought he was selling weapons to gang members. Garrison was booked at County Jail with bail set at $100,000. He remained there this afternoon.
