The Lucia Mar school board appointed Michelle Johnson as principal of Nipomo High School at a closed session meeting Tuesday night.
Johnson, currently an assistant principal at the school, will replace Principal Bob Mistele who announced his departure in May.
Two current principals – Mike Miller of North Oceano Elementary School and Barb Lococo of Mesa Middle School – were also promoted to two district positions in the curriculum department. Mesa Middle School assistant principal Jeff Martin will replace Lococo.
The board must still appoint an interim superintendent to replace Superintendent Deborah Flores, a principal at Arroyo Grande High School and a replacement for Miller at North Oceano Elementary School, which next year will be called Fairgrove Elementary. The board is expected to announce the new hire for Arroyo Grande High School next week.
