Animal rights activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has sent a letter to San Luis Obispo High School asking them to stop dissecting dead cats in science class.
PETA sent the letter Friday after hearing about a prank in which students hung 17 cats taken from the school’s science storage shed around campus over Memorial Day weekend.
PETA is advocating that science teachers consider using computer simulation programs for any future dissection activities.
SLO High principal Will Jones was not immediately available to issue a response to the letter.
