County environmental health officials have posted health advisories at Olde Port Beach in Avila Beach west of the restrooms notifying beach-goers of elevated bacteria levels in the ocean.
A new sample was taken when the signs were put up, said Liberty Amundson, environmental health specialist. The signs will stay posted as long as samples show bacteria levels exceed state health standards.
The county samples 20 popular beach locations throughout the county every week on Tuesdays.
