County sherriff’s officials have suspended a search and rescue effort for an elderly woman who wandered from her son’s rural Templeton home Friday morning.
Janet deFelice, 88, suffers from dementia and on Thursday night had moved from Costa Mesa to her son, John deFelice’s, home on Santa Rita Road off Highway 46.
The family noticed she was missing Friday morning and began looking for her, circulating flyers in Atascadero.
Led by the sheriff’s Search and Rescue team, more than 50 volunteers searched a 2,000-acre area Saturday with dogs, horses and helicopters.
