San Luis Obispo police are investigating at Laguna Lake Park, where a body has been found in the water near the boat launch.A resident on the lakeshore called authorities after 3 p.m. Monday reporting a body near the dock. A city firefighter went into the water and confirmed at was a body.
Police said the body appeared to be that of a female.
They did not yet know how long the body has been in the lake and said there are no immediate signs of trauma, and no obvious cause of death. The body remained in the water shortly after 4 p.m. as police awaited a coroner investigator.
Police said they are looking into whether the body found might be related to the case Stacie Jones, a 48-year-old Shell Beach woman who went missing at Laguna Lake Park on Tuesday. Jones had last been seen at 10 p.m. that day when she walked away from a friend and toward Madonna Road. Police searched the park extensively and were assisted by a CHP helicopter.
