This year’s Paso Robles Wine Festival was the best such event to date, organizers said today.
More than 5,800 tickets were sold for the May 19 festival, which featured 250 North County wines from 89 separate wineries. That’s an increase from the roughly 5,700 tickets organizers sold last year, event spokesman Chris Taranto said.
The 25th annual festival also featured the Silver Pass admission ticket, which allowed consumers to access the tasting room an hour early. In addition, Taranto said, 65 percent of visitors bought their tickets in advance, a dramatic increase from the 40 percent who did so in 2006.
The festival is held under the guidance of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance each year during the third weekend of May.
