Cal Poly softball team falls in NCAA Tournament opener

The Cal Poly softball team opened its first-ever NCAA Tournament action with a tough 9-0 loss to BYU today.

The Mustangs' first game in the Provo (Utah) Regional was called after five innings.

BYU jumped on Cal Poly early, scoring six runs in the first inning.

Cal Poly isn't out of the postseason just yet. The Mustangs play their second game in the double-elimination regional against Southern Utah at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
