The City Council has canceled its Tuesday meeting so some members can attend the International Council of Shopping Centers convention in Las Vegas.
Four council members decided in March to attend the event, which begins Sunday at the Las Vegas Convention Center. City Clerk Marcia McClure Torgerson said Councilwoman Ellen Beraud was committed to accompany City Manager Wade McKinney at the convention.
It was unclear if Mayor George Luna and Councilmen Mike Brennler and Tom O’Malley would also attend, she said.
The city will pay the council members’ travel expenses, McClure Torgerson said, an estimate of which was not available this morning.

The shopping center convention is billed as an opportunity for city officials to pitch their communities to various national chains. According to the organization’s Web site, more than 44,000 people have registered to attend.
The council’s next meeting is scheduled June 12.
