The Morro Bay Fire Department received an unexpected yet much appreciated $25,000 donation for its fire station project earlier this week.
Fire officials said they received a phone call from the anonymous donor’s financial institution on Monday notifying them of the donation.
The money will be put in a fund along with $1,000 from previous donations and will be used toward revamping the aging facility.
The nearly $8.5 million two-phase project includes reconstruction of the Harbor Street station that sustained roof damage in the 2003 San Simeon earthquake.
