Two San Luis Obispo men were arrested Thursday night after they were allegedly about to get into a knife fight in front of the Downtown Centre.
Several witnesses told police they saw the two men holding knives and yelling at each other. Some of the bystanders tried to intervene, but were only able to disarm and detain one of the men, 19-year-old Andrew Lee Duell.
When officers arrived on the scene at 8:52, Duell was still being held by the citizen.
Officers found a man matching the description of the second suspect in front of Doc’s Karaoke Bar at Nipomo and Higuera streets. Mario Furtado, 22, was detained.

After investigating, officers said the suspected knife fight was the continuation of an incident that happened 20 minutes earlier, when Furtado allegedly punched Duell and took cash from him.
Furtado was arrested on suspicion of robbery and was taken to County Jail with bail set at $30,000.
Duell was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a weapon and was also taken to County Jail, with bail set at $2,000.
