Man in Shell Beach fight dies from injuries

A 30-year-old man has died from severe head trauma suffered from a fight outside Alex’s Bar-B-Q in Shell Beach late Tuesday, according to hospital and law enforcement authorities.

When officers arrived at nearby Boeker Street, they found bystanders administering CPR to 30-year-old Gregory Mascorro of Shell Beach. Officers continued CPR on Mascorro, who was bleeding from a head wound, until medics arrived.

According to police, Mascorro and suspect Jeremy Hollis argued inside the bar, which allegedly led to a fight outside on Boeker Street. Hollis allegedly inflicted injuries to Mascorro and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the fight.

Mascorro was taken to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital in critical condition and was transferred to the intensive care unit at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, where he was declared brain dead at 11:08 a.m. on Wednesday. Hollis was taken to County Jail.
