Crews are still battling fires on about 75 acres along the Cuesta Grade, leading to traffic delays on Highway 101.
The far right lane is still closed, CHP reports, though the backup is not as bad as it was about an hour ago.
The fires' progress has been slowed, but they are not yet contained, CalFire officials report.
The first call reporting flames on the right-hand side of the northbound lanes came at 3:15 p.m. Motorists stopped alongside the road to try to put them out.

According to the CHP Web site, up to three fires may be burning. One was on the hillside just north of Ryan’s Gate, another was a half-mile north.
The slow-lane was closed as of 3:40 p.m. Smoke may also delay traffic.
Numerous fire engines and an air tanker were fighting the blaze.
